MACROS, LIFESTYLE, & MINDSET CHALLENGE

OUR CURRENT SOCIAL MEDIA EDUCATION:
  • Carbs are bad… you shouldn’t eat those

  • You have to work out every day

  • The greater the calorie deficit, the better

  • Lose weight by doing more cardio

  • Fruit is bad because it’s high in sugar

  • Eat only lean protein and vegetables to lose weight

  • No sweets, chips, or booze if you want to lose weight

  • How you look is more important than how you feel

  • The Keto Diet is the ticket to weight loss

 

Sound familiar?  Well, get ready… this challenge is going to give you some perspective on claims like these.  

 

By the end of the 8-weeks, you will be able to assess these claims with a more critical eye and with a better foundation of knowledge about how nutrition, mindset, and lifestyle play into sustainability and personal progress.

The goal of this challenge is to incorporate a balance of multiple factors that ALL contribute to greater health and wellbeing.  Because it’s all connected.

Here’s how:

 

If you eat an optimal quantity of minimally processed whole foods, your body (and brain) will have more energy to face the day.  When you have more energy, you will be more motivated to go to the gym or to do something active.  If you are active, your metabolism and hormones will be better balanced.  Being active also improves your mood and helps you sleep better.  Good quality (and quantity) sleep also balances hormones and results in more energy and a healthier physiological state (aka how everything works together inside your body).  Having a healthy physiology allows your body to better manage internal and external stressors (like work, kids, school, Covid…ugh) as well as make better use of the nutrients you are eating.  If your body can make good use of the nutrients you are eating, it will be less likely to store those nutrients as ‘unused energy’ (aka. fat), and more likely to use the energy your body has available (aka. burn fat to fuel daily activities).

 

See what I mean?  Everything is connected to everything else.

SO, WHAT'S INVOLVED WITH THE MACROS, MINDSET,& LIFESTYLE CHALLENGE?

On the nutrition side, we are going to be tracking daily calories and protein intake using MyFitnessPal.  Every person will receive personalized targets unique to their goals.

 

If you have never tracked macros/calories before, DO NOT FEAR. This is an amazing learning opportunity and LOTS of support will be provided.

 

If you have experience with tracking food, then awesome!  This is a perfect opportunity to re-calibrate your eyeballs to what an optimal quantity of food for your body looks like.

 

We will also be using daily accountability checks for sleep, exercise, non-exercise activity (steps), mindfulness/meditation/breathing, mobility, veggie intake, and hydration.

 

DAILY ACCOUNTABILITY CHECKS?!?!?! *gasp*

 

You bet!  Here’s a fun fact for you… Accountability and Consistency Get Results.  Period.  The End.

 

Notice I said “consistency” and not “perfection”?  That’s a very important distinction.
